PM Launches ‘Fit India Movement’
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the “Fit India Movement” in Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi on the occasion of National Sports Day on Thursday 29th August 2019. This programme aims to encourage all the citizens to instruct a culture of fitness and bit a healthy India, shilpa Shetty and Many other Celebrities Join and ask citizen to Pledge.
PM Modi urged people to make fitness a part of daily routine & raise awareness about it. He said that the launch of fit India is the steps towards the healthy India. Mr. Modi tells us about the great sportsperson Major Dhyanchand who was born on this day. PM Modi said that
“The Great Hockey player Dhyanchand had amazed the world with his fitness, stamina & hockey stick.”

Aim of Healthy India
The Prime Minister said that fitness has been an Integral part of our culture. He said that
“Normal people had walked 8-10 km in day & do cycling, runing few decades back, but the physical activity has gone down after the technology has come”.
He tells us that technology has reduced our physical activity that we are not walking enough. The Prime minister also administered a fitness pledge in his address inviting all Indians to join in Fit India movement.

The Fit India is also supported by national sports players including world Badminton champion PV Sindhu, sprinter Hima Das along with wrestlers Bajrang Punia & Sakshi Malik.
The launch of Fit India movement was also attended Sports minister Kiren Rijiju & this year’s National Sports Awards winners among others.
The Prime minister of India Narendra Modi had announced the launch of Fit India campaign during his monthly radio address “Mann ki baat” on August 25. He said that he wanted to see his listeners fit & make them fitness conscious to the people.
UGC Updates on Fit India Movement
University Grants Commission (UGC) has told the higher educational institutes to make an arrangement for live viewing of the events by the students, faculty & staff. The UGC also instruct the institutes to prepare a fitness plan on sports/exercises/physical activities for fitness, into the daily routine. UGC has also asked institutes to inspire every person to walk 10,000 steps on Thursday. UGC told to institutes to upload their fitness action plans on UGC’s “Fit India Movement Portal” which is under development.
Union Sports minister Kiren Rijiju says that fit India movement is getting a huge support from all section of the society that has launched by PM Modi. Fit India campaign is the latest among few other Initiatives by the prime minister to promote fitness & health. Narendra Modi is a well- known supporter of Yoga. He had put a great effort to make a world Yoga Day in the UN in all over the world.
